Swarm Removal/Capture

If you find a swarm of honey bees (like the one above) in your yard or a tree, please send us an email with detailed information and pictures! bigvalleybeekeepers at g mail dot com

Be sure to include your contact information and the best way to reach you. As volunteers, we will do our best to match you with a local hobby beekeeper who might be able to help and take the bees with them to a new home.

Please include the following information:

  • Cell number and name of contact person
  • Have you contacted anyone else or any other organization about the swarm?
  • Address where swarm is located
  • How big is the swarm? Softball? Basketball? Bigger?
  • How high up is the swarm? Arms reach? Roof height? Top of tree?
  • Do you have a ladder that will reach them?
  • How long has it been there?

While the Guild does not charge a fee for this community service, we often get asked how someone can thank us or support the education we provide. Consider sponsoring one of our monthly meetings or joining as a member!

If you have bees coming out of a structure, (i.e your house, a chimney, outbuilding, wall), this is probably not a swarm, but an established honey bee colony.
This will take a different set of skills to remove the bees. This is known as a cut-out and may require a fee.
For cut-outs please contact Daniel Schoenthal at BlueGreen Horizons at (916) 426-6445.
